As India transitions into a semiconductor manufacturing center, the sector is set to create 1 million jobs across different industries by 2026. This demand is predicted to arise in multiple sectors, comprising an anticipated 300,000 positions in semiconductor chip fabrication, approximately 200,000 roles in ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging), alongside more opportunities in chip design, software engineering, system circuits, and supply chain management for manufacturing, according to a report by the talent solutions firm NLB Services.

Moreover, the report indicated that there will be a need for a skilled labor force, comprising engineers, operators, technicians, and experts in quality control, procurement, and materials engineering, highlighting India's plan to establish a strong semiconductor talent pipeline by 2026, it noted.

Alongside government support for the semiconductor sector, numerous private firms have expressed plans to invest in establishing new semiconductor assembly and testing plants in India, according to the analysis of internal data and industry reports mentioned in the report.

This move, it stated, is poised to initiate a substantial transformation in India's semiconductor industry, generating numerous high-tech and construction employment opportunities simultaneously. Several important roles in the semiconductor sector include Process Integration Engineer, Semiconductor Wafer Inspector, Technical Specialist, Preventative Maintenance (PM) Technician, Design Engineer, Process Engineer, and Quality Control Specialist, among others.
